I would say the median is the most important because it actually tells you the average of all the numbers counted up and divided by the numbers there actually are. For the problem that Mr. Anelo posted I would still say that the most important is the median.
I think the mean is most valuable when describing data, because its the average. In Mr.aneLlO's example, the mean shows how well they play and thats my point. The mean is suppose to give you like an estimate of something.
I.E. Jim plays outside for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 hours each day in a week. What is the mean amount of hours played outside?
1) 2+3+4+5+6+7+8=35
2) 35/7= 5
3) The average amount of hours Jim plays outside is 5 hours.
